This is not a cheaper version of the long set. It sells into a different season, a different climate and a different buyer.

• Warm states and summer programmes. The South, Australia and the Gulf buy short sleepwear for most of the year; a long-sleeve set does not sell there.
• The easiest thing for a child to put on alone — no placket, no buttons, an elasticated waist. That is what daycare and preschool uniform buyers ask for, because staff are dressing a room, not one child.
• The leg band is the whole design problem. Too tight leaves a mark, too loose rides up all night, so it is tested on the body rather than on a hanger.
• Solid dye is the flexible base: no plate cost, no colour-matching run, so one style opens in six colourways and reorders in one.

Fabric, knit and certification

Tanboocel® bamboo viscose is smooth at the fibre, breathable, and moves moisture away rather than holding it, so a child does not wake up damp. It stays durable through washing, which is what makes an eco-conscious or sustainable claim worth making at this price — and this is the price point where most buyers start one.

On the knit. The set photographed here is smooth jersey, which is the standard build. Rib is the other knit we run this style in, and it is one of the most-requested alternatives on a children's set: ribbed bamboo takes solid dye deeply and evenly, and its stretch and recovery hold a cuff and a neckband in shape through washing, where a plain knit eventually relaxes. Rib is a stock fabric for us, so it is a specification decision rather than a custom development — say which you want and the spec sheet and the sample follow it.

Bamboo is usually sold on antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties. Neither has a standard behind it that a factory can be audited against, so we would rather hand you the document. What can be audited is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I — the baby class — under certificates BJ020 287849 and BJ025 287848, valid to 15.07.2027. For children's sleepwear sold into the US, the framework that applies is CPSIA; ask for the test report with the certificate. Vertical integration from fibre to finished garment is what keeps the trail continuous. Sensitive skin is the reason buyers ask, and the certificate is the answer that holds up.
